Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Jill Huang graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a degree in Fine Arts with focus on painting, drawing, silk screening and art history. Currently working out of her studio in Parkdale in Toronto, ON, her abstract paintings experiment with the relationships between colour theory, space and arrangement. What conversations are brought out with the harmony / disharmony between space and form? What brings the eye in ‘pleasantly' and what draws one in ‘non-pleasantly’? Jill plays with traditional ideals of beauty through investigation of colour, balance and reality, begging the viewer to confront their own notions of painting components.
